Come, plan another week of meals with me.
As is often the case when I find the time to correspond with you, the children are taking their afternoon naps.
I was about to use the quiet moment to delve with you into the exciting world of medicinal herbs when I remembered that today is Thursday. We do our weekly grocery trip on Thursday evenings, and I have no shopping list prepared. In order to make the shopping list, I need to have a meal plan.
My meal-planning process begins by flipping through this week's Aldi advertisement. It wasn't available at the store last week, so we will have to do so digitally today. Ooh, I like the cute duvet cover on the front...
Apologies, I easily get distracted by home decor. Let's stay focused on food. Mushrooms, grapes, chicken, cheese, rolls, sausage, hummus, rice, and canned cherries are some of our kitchen staples that are on sale this week. That is a good starting point for a few meal ideas:
• slow-cooker chicken curry
• milk rice with cherries
• sautéed mushrooms with skillet potatoes
Excellent, three meals are already planned. Breakfast is always oats with fresh fruit and yogurt during the week, and we enjoy rolls on the weekend. I usually plan about seven meals for a week, knowing that we will have leftovers or sandwiches for the other meals. That means we need four more meal ideas. Let me check the calendar to see if we are expecting any guests this week. Guests get a three-course meal:
• salad, lasagna, and apple pastries with ice cream
My thoughts turn to the garden, where the corn and tomatoes are ready for harvest, giving us another meal:
• corn on the cob and caprese salad
The final meals are a bit harder to plan, but I think of which ingredients we already have and how I can use them. Thankfully, that gives me two more ideas:
• pizza
• BELT (bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato) bagels
How quickly we were able to complete the meal plan today! I didn't even have to pull out cookbooks or search online for inspiration. That is likely because you joined me, kept me on task, and made the process much more enjoyable. Which meals are you hoping to prepare this week?
Before you go, I want to share with you some well-known verses that are always an encouragement to me. God reminded me of Psalm 23:1-2 yesterday in a hard moment, and I recited them again as I fell asleep last night. May they give you the same peace:
The Lord is my shepherd; I have what I need. He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. (CSB)
I pray for each of my subscribers by name, so please let me know how I can be praying for you!
Thank you for being my guest. In God's word you will find rest; Seek Him, be bountifully blessed. ♥️
